One week old, Cedric, and you’re already doing such a good job with all kinds of baby things! I love watching your tummy go up and down while you breathe tiny little baby breaths, and I can’t help but smile to hear the way you squeak when you stretch out your arms above your head. Daddy says you do a good job being happy while he gives you baths, but after you’ve gotten him wet a few times, he’s starting to recognize signs to watch for when you’re not wearing a diaper, like how you bring your hands together, make an “o” with your lips and stare quietly into the distance.
You’re going through dozens of diapers already, and some are really pretty stinky. That’s okay, though, because it means you’re doing a good job nursing, which is making you healthier and stronger every day. We’ve even gotten to catch a few quick smiles on your face which makes us smile, too! Now that your umbilical cord has fallen off, we don’t have to roll the top of the diaper down when we change you. We’re pretty proud of your new belly button.
Even though you probably don’t notice yet, you have a puppy that we snuggle beside you when you lay down for a cozy nap. He’s very soft and little like you.
