Raindrops caught up in the tangled Spanish moss that draped over branches of historic oaks along the Pamlico River. I went about capturing Jamie’s cathedral-length veil as it lifted lightly in the breeze and arranged their invitation suite with its ribbon and seal, noting local artwork and architecture, lace sleeves and bowties. But it was long after sunset, when we gathered in a candlelit room decked with florals, filled wall to wall with loved ones gathered ’round tables, that the core beauty of Lee and Jamie’s wedding day shone brightest. Words were spoken about the bride and groom’s loyalty, their kindness, and their devotion… how he never says a bad word about her and how she always cares for the underdog; how the bride and groom were known for their love. Everything else that day was just an outward expression of the beauty in that gentle decision to choose love over and over again for each other, forever. Lee and Jamie, thank you for giving us worthy reason to celebrate. You were the sunshine in this cloudy wedding day, and you shone brilliantly.
