Hurricane Idalia may have threatened delays and canceled almost every flight leading up to mine off the coast, but you wouldn’t have known it from the way the sun poured down lazily on Daniel and Cora and sat glowing between them in the Midwest.
Somewhere under the clear, blue sky, nestled between the rolling hills of Wisconsin, if you would’ve taken the right backroads past acres of woods, well-groomed farmlands and glassy lakes, you would’ve spotted these two saying their vows to each other. You would’ve seen the macrame arch (handwoven by the bride herself) swaying in the breeze and walked on the richly colored bohemian rugs forming their wedding aisle. You would’ve heard the plucking of mandolin harmonizing with violins and banjos, been wrapped up in the embrace of some old or new friend, watched as candles were lit and tasted the ice cream being scooped into cups. At the end of the day you, beside all of us, would’ve felt the boom of fireworks bursting overhead as goodbyes and well wishes were cheered.
It was every bit as beautiful, pure and peaceful as the land they were standing on.
You couldn’t help but feel joy in the crowd.
Thank you, Daniel and Cora, for inviting me in to the beauty of this day. May you carry all the bliss of your first moments as husband and wife into the years ahead and nurture that delight with all the care and attention it deserves. As was shared so fittingly during your ceremony, “Each for the other, both for the Lord.”
If you loved this wedding, you’ll love this seaside engagement of a couple from Manchester, England…
Amazing. I am SO happy for them. 🙂
