Weddings

As thoroughly as I enjoyed the lush greens, mild temperatures and late midwestern sunsets Ohio offered up as a hearty welcome, it was Timothy and Bethany that took the spotlight this last weekend… Bethany had reached out after her sister (who’d been following along for 15 YEARS after we’d met at a conference!) pointed her my direction. She was going for a classic wedding with earthy tones, inspired by a cottage core aesthetic, choosing Forever Farms in Medina, Ohio for their venue.

You don’t have to be with this bridal couple for long to sense the purposefulness which which they’ve approached their relationship with each other. In fact, not only they themselves, but their friends and family, too. The moment I walked in on a crowd of groomsmen sharing an impromptu prayer time with Timothy as he prepared to meet Bethany at the end of the aisle, the intentionality and prayerfulness their network of friends and family have invested into their future together as a couple was evident.

Friends sang, friends prepared the charcuterie and the cake, friends helped arranged flowers, fixed each other’s hair and makeup, and executed the timeline with the kind of support and love you can only hope radiates from the ones you lean on through life. A wedding day takes a village, and Timothy and Bethany’s village showed up in a way that reflected just how much they’ve been pouring into the lives of those around them for decades leading up to this day.

Timothy & Bethany, may your days be filled with the kind of fruit that comes from valuing people, each other especially. And may the blessing of your time and attention towards those around you come back to you many times over as you build this sweetest of all relationships on earth, now yours to cherish, guard and nourish to the end of your days.
