Josiah and Kenzie initially met through their campus ministry in January of 2016. It didn’t take long for Kenzie to notice Josiah and little more time to do something about it! Knowing his family was from the Fargo, ND, area, she planned a little shopping day-trip over spring break and covertly asked Josiah if he wanted to grab something to eat before she left town. Josiah had no feelings for her whatsoever at that point, in fact, when showed a picture of her, he had said something like, “She’s alright.” (!!) Needless to say, during their wedding ceremony he made sure everyone knew just how much his opinion had changed of his model-quality wife… 😀 haha. By the time Josiah got home from lunch with Kenzie, he told his brother, “I think I might like Kenzie…?” Apparently he did, because just three months after they met each other for the very first time, he asked her to be his girlfriend.
It must have become apparent quickly to each of them that they were meant to be together, because when Kenzie stepped off her plane in December after being gone for 6 months doing missions work, there was Josiah standing with his guitar in the middle of the airport. They were surrounded by their closest friends and family as he sang a song he wrote for her and (you guessed it) got down on one knee, asking her to be his wife. (I know, I know, this story is ridiculously sweet!)
Ben and I had the best time together capturing their wedding, catching the groom pouring over the Bible in the first hours of the morning, running through the rain location-scouting, celebrating the sun when it came out to shine just in time for their first look and soaking in the almost tangible love and enthusiasm of their friends and family as they once again surrounded Josiah and McKenzie, but this time to watch them bind their lives together in solemn vows.
There’s no doubt in our minds that these two were brought together for a special purpose and that they can have a greater, more lasting impact living life at each other’s side than by themselves. Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Negron!!
If rain on a wedding is a sign of good luck, then hail must be one heavy, extra dose of blessings to come…
Faces by Laura did a beautiful job preparing Kenzie for her wedding day! Having a good makeup artist makes a dramatic difference in how your photos turn out, so definitely check her out if you’re looking for someone!
How often does a venue have a rod in the preparation room specifically for hanging the wedding dress?! We were just a little excited… 😛
Gimme allll that natural, window light.
First look to melt your heart!
Kenzie said she isn’t a huge flower fan, so she decided to go with all greenery for her bouquets… Gabrielle did a pretty knockout job making that vision come to life, don’t you think?
Groomsmen swag.
These two didn’t even bat an eye when I mentioned running into this muddy field for their final bride and groom portraits of the day – way to trust their photographer (THANK YOUUU).
