Zach + Jasmine // Blue Haven Barn

9/29/2020

Two years of engagement brought Zach and Jasmine to their wedding day at Blue Haven Barn – a meeting place in the middle of cities they and their closest family and friends call home. The time, the distance, the training and degrees they both pursued in the middle of their relationship – it all held nothing on their plans to live their lives together. In the middle of the hazy sun and wind wisping through the fields of Dakota grass, they vowed to never leave each other, they vowed to support the other, they vowed to love the things each other loved.

Zach and Jasmine, thanks for choosing me to capture this day for you. Thanks for your example in loyalty to each other and the values you hold dear. May you only grow stronger in your zeal for life and your enjoyment in living it side by side.

After the first dances, the sound of an old record crackling over the speakers filled the room and every couple in attendance met each other on the floor. The next few minutes were dedicated to their grandma – a beloved woman with whom their grandpa had shared decades of marriage. As I turned to take a picture of his wife’s portrait sitting on the table, he pointed and said in exactly the type of grandpa voice you might imagine, “That was my wife.”

I asked her what she was like…

“She was beautiful.”
