Beautiful North Carolina Wedding at Privately Owned Stables

While engagement and bridal sessions have already begun for the year, Matt and Hannah officially opened up my 2025 wedding season and I’m so excited share their day with you! Weddings often have me spending 8-12 hours behind the camera with a completely unique opportunity to curate the story of a day from the beginning to its end. Getting to do that on this beautiful privately-owned active horse farm brought me back to my girlhood when I would race through prairie fields riding bareback and set up jumps and barrels to practice with my horses on long summer afternoons. Nearly every book I read back then centered around keeping, caring for and training horses in some form or fashion… and while my dream job of working at a horse stable when I was a girl has since changed, stepping back into that world from a different angle brought me a lot of joy.

One of my favorite memories from this wedding day will undoubtedly be from the first look we set up with a sweet little boy Hannah had devoted herself to for much of his first year. Though there are a handful of different moments prone to choke me up on a wedding day, it was when Theo saw Hannah in her wedding dress for the first time and ran to her wholehearted, arms outstretched and face beaming, that tears welled up in my eyes. There is a special kind of love we celebrate on wedding days: the love we vow before God and witnesses that come what may, will remain until death itself separates. But what we sometimes don’t realize, I think, is how the decision to set our love on another affects every other love in our lives. Love changes us. It sets our priorities in order, draws us to sacrifice, gives purpose and meaning to our labor, strengthens our resolve to be patient, to show kindness, and to place others’ good before our own. Seeing that kind of love put on display throughout Matt and Hannah’s wedding day in the lives of those already benefiting from their service and devotion was beautiful to witness.

Matt and Hannah, congratulations!! Thank you for trusting me to capture the dawn of your marriage. I have no doubt the way you pour yourselves for each other and those around you will have long-lasting impact and I am honored to have gotten to capture some of the first fruits.
