Bald Head Island Engagement Session // Joshua & Joy

8/16/2022

It’s been a rainy summer here on the Carolina coast and it’s made scheduling a little extra tricky this year, but I’m always grateful when couples are both willing and able to be flexible with the weather!! We had to reschedule Josh and Joy’s engagement session twice due to the forecast and their location choice evolved along the way, eventually settling on what ended up being the perfect choice for them: Bald Head Island. Josh proposed to Joy there just a couple months ago and if you’ve never been there before, let me tell you, BHI is one of the most peaceful, magical secrets of the Carolinas. You leave your car behind at the station in Southport and take a 20 minute ferry across the Cape Fear River, arriving on the island within walking distance of golf cart rentals (the only mode of transportation on the island). There are 12,000 acres of beach, marsh, forest and the most charming, quiet neighborhoods to explore and we enjoyed as much of it as possible while we were there, driving the trails of the maritime forest, braving the heart of the woods during golden hour, visiting their proposal site near the chapel, walking the bridge with Old Baldy Lighthouse in view and finishing at twilight with them dancing in the waves of the Atlantic by moonlight.

Josh and Joy, after spending this evening with you, I am even more excited for your wedding in just a few months!!! You are both genuine, full of kindness and love for each other and those around you and capturing who you are together feels effortless. Your big day can’t come soon enough!!

If you loved this session, you should check out this one in Soundside Park + Surf City!
